Tokyo Olympia
Takashi Homma
Nieves, 2023

First edition published in 2023. Approx. 100 pages printed on extra-thick cardboard boards with rounded corners, conceived as an oversized board book. Approx. size 21.5 × 28.8 cm, with a dramatic spine thickness and substantial weight (approx. 2 kg).

Produced in a limited edition of approx. 500 copies, Tokyo Olympia revisits Tokyo during the years surrounding the Olympic Games, focusing on demolition, construction, and urban transition. More object than book, it extends the logic of Tokyo Suburbia through radical materiality and scale, and is already considered a scarce contemporary photobook.

Takashi Homma
Takashi Homma is a Japanese photographer whose work occupies a unique position between documentary, editorial, and conceptual photography. Active since the 1990s, he is known for a detached, precise visual language that examines everyday environments, architecture, and social structures. Moving fluidly between independent photobooks, commercial commissions, and long-term personal projects, Homma has played a central role in redefining contemporary Japanese photography through both his images and his experimental approach to book-making.
